STC welcomes resumption of diplomatic relations between Iran, Saudi Arabia

ADEN, March 11 (YPA) -The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Friday welcomed the restoration  of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, mediated by the People’s Republic of China, which includes the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“The STC welcomes the agreement concluded between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran under the auspices of the People’s Republic of China, which includes the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries,” Spokesman for the STC,  Ali Al Katheeri said in a tweet on Friday.

Al-Katheeri expressed the STC’s aspiration to contribute to the contribution of this positive development to the consolidation of security and stability in our region and the world.

He attributed the STC’s welcome to an earlier call made by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, head of the STC, in which he called on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran to dialogue and the resumption of ties as an embodiment of our keenness to strengthen relations between the peoples and countries of our region.

Earlier on Friday, the authorities of Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to reopen their embassies within two months, after holding a round of negotiations in Beijing at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
