Yemeni riyal recovers in Sanaa, declines in southern provinces

SANAA, Feb. 04 (YPA) – Foreign exchange rates fell again on Saturday in the areas of the Sanaa government to reach 549 riyals for one dollar, and the Saudi riyal for 146 riyals.

On the other hand, the exchange rates of the Yemeni riyal witnessed a new collapse against foreign currencies in the exchange shops in the provinces of Aden and Hadramout, where the price of one dollar reached 1,272 riyals and the Saudi riyal 338 riyals.

This led to a significant increase in the prices of food commodities in the Yemeni southern areas under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.

Citizens in southern and eastern Yemen complain that the government loyal to the coalition has not taken any measures aimed at curbing the collapse of the national currency and improving the economic situation in the country.
