Sanaa denounces Saudi authorities’ arrest of Yemeni woman performing Umrah

SANAA, Feb. 04 (YPA) – Ministry of Human Rights in Sanaa on Saturday denounced the arrest of the Yemeni citizen, Marwa Abd Rabbo Hussein Al-Sabri, by Saudi authorities, while she was performing Umrah, after fabricating false malicious accusations against her.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry confirmed that the ruling issued by the Saudi regime against Al-Sabri, which entails imprisoning her for a year, represents a flagrant violation of human rights and all humanitarian laws, in addition to being contrary to religious and social values.

The statement indicated that this violation is added to a series of precedents committed by the Saudi regime against Yemeni women, including killing, siege and humiliation.

In its statement, the Ministry of Human Rights called for the speedy release of Al-Sabri, calling on all the Yemeni people and all human rights activists in the Arab and Islamic world to condemn this act and to show solidarity with the Yemeni women.

It also called on the United Nations and humanitarian and international organizations to condemn and denounce what happened, to put pressure on the Saudi regime to release her, and to stop its crimes, violations and arbitrary arrests against Yemeni citizens residing in the territory of the Kingdom, and provide legal protection to them.
