North Korean expert: NATO Secretary’s visit to Seoul and Tokyo is a premise for confrontation and war in the region

WORLD, Jan. 30 (YPA) – The visit of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg to Tokyo and Seoul will exacerbate the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, North Korean political expert Kim Dong-myung said.

He noted that the visit is in fact is a premise for confrontation and war, because this move brings the dark clouds of a new Cold War to the Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Stoltenberg arrived in Seoul on January 29, beginning a two-day visit to South Korea. During a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin yesterday, he said North Korea’s support for Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine shows the rest of the world the need to closely coordinate security efforts.

After South Korea, Mr. Stoltenberg is expected to arrive in Japan late on January 30 for a two-day visit.

Kim Dong-myun added, that during the visit, Mr. Stoltenberg would mention the need to establish an “Asian version of NATO”, putting pressure on Tokyo and Seoul to provide military support to Ukraine, after Washington decided to switch tanks for Kiev.

Last weekend, Stoltenberg visited South Korea, where he held several bilateral meetings with the country’s leadership.

After that, he headed to Tokyo where he will stay from January 30 to February 1.  His itinerary includes a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
