Russian official attacks America, Britain, France about peace in Yemen

NEW YORK, Jan. 17 (YPA) – Russia launched a fierce attack on America, Britain and France, describing them as opportunists in the war waged by the coalition against Yemen for the eighth straight year.

Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky stressed that peace in Yemen will only be achieved through direct dialogue with the Ansarullah movement.

“The international community must do everything in its power to restore peace to Yemen,” Polyansky said during the UN Security Council session on the situation in Yemen.

At the same time, we are seeing more and more signs that our Western colleagues see their ultimate goal not in a comprehensive and long-term settlement of a large number of problems facing Yemen that directly affect neighboring countries, he added.

Polyansky affirmed that the stability can only be achieved through direct dialogue with the Ansarullah movement, which has long become an objective fact of the existing military-political balance of power.

He added, “Western countries practice opportunism by focusing on obtaining Yemeni oil and gas, and we consider this opportunistic Western approach very dangerous and harmful to sustainable peace in Yemen.”
