SHABWA, Jan. 11 (YPA) – Armed confrontations erupted on Wednesday between the UAE-backed militia in the center of the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, in eastern Yemen.
According to local sources in the city, the clashes broke out between members of the “Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia funded by the UAE, against the backdrop of collecting levies and royalties imposed on Qat sellers in Ataq, leaving a number of injured, amid a state of panic among the people.
The sources pointed out that the leaders of the militia factions are trying to seize the levies imposed on Qat sellers, as a result of the security chaos in the city.
