Iran denies rumors of “imminent Iranian attack” on Saudi Arabia

TEHRAN, Nov. 03 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, denied the rumors that were published on Tuesday on an “imminent Iranian attack” on the territory of Saudi Arabia.

In response to article of the “Wall Street Journal” newspaper, Kanaani said: “Such biased news materials are published by some Western and Zionist circles with the aim of creating a negative atmosphere against the Islamic Republic of Iran and destroying the current positive trends with the countries of the region.”

The spokesman stressed that “the Islamic Republic of Iran continues the policy of good-neighborliness with its neighbors on the basis of mutual respect and within the framework of international principles and rules.”

Kanaani confirmed that his country seeks to consolidate and enhance stability and security in the region by establishing constructive interaction with its neighbors, and would continue to do so in earnest.

On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal quoted Saudi and US officials as saying that Saudi Arabia had shared intelligence with the United States about an “imminent Iranian attack” on targets in the kingdom.

According to the newspaper, the exchange of information led to an increase in the level of combat readiness of the “American and other” forces in the Middle East.

The Iranian political expert, Karen Gevorgian, noted that Washington could provoke a serious conflict in the Middle East on the eve of the congressional elections.
