Saudi forces push reinforcements to Aden

ADEN, Nov. 02 (YPA) – Saudi military reinforcements have arrived during the past hours at the Maasheq presidential palace in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.

Sources familiar with the matter said that a number of Saudi armored vehicles arrived at the presidential Palace, coming from the Al-Wadi’a crossing, via the Shabwa-Abyan international road.

The sources indicated that the Saudi moves came in response to the Emirati forces’ control of the palace, and the prevention of Saudi forces from participating in securing the headquarters of the head of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, and the head of the coalition-backed government, Maeen Abdul-Malik.

On October 20, the UAE sent a military force to protect the Maasheq Palace, instead of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia, at the request of Al-Alimi and Tariq Afash.

About 300 soldiers and officers of the Emirati forces withdrew after their deployment days after disputes with the Saudi forces, which were not involved in the protection and supervision of the Maashiq Palace.

The arrival of the Emirati forces to Aden came at the request of Al-Alimi during his visit to Abu Dhabi without coordination with the Saudi side, which angered the Saudis at the coalition headquarters in Aden.
