UAE-funded militias launch campaign of arrests in Abyan

ABYAN, Oct. 17 (YPA) – Armed militia, backed by the UAE, launched on Monday a campaign of arrests against citizens in Abyan province, raiding several their homes and confiscating weapons.

According to tribal sources in Moudiya city, reported that the militias of Southern Transitional Council (STC) raided during the past hours the homes of Al Qahtan tribe and confiscated the personal weapons of its sons.

The campaign was part of a broad plan aimed at confiscating the weapons of the tribes of the central areas of Abyan, affiliated with the STC’s opponents.

The campaign also came after the STC announced its control over those areas, which are the birthplace of outgoing President Hadi and the former Minister of Interior in the coalition-backed government, Ahmed Al-Maisari, along with the former southern president, Ali Nasser Mohammed.
