Foreign Ministry: Coalition countries’ rejection of legitimate rights of Yemeni people prevented truce extension

SANAA, Oct. 14 (YPA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa on Thursday confirmed that the Saudi-led coalition countries’ rejection of the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people had prevented the extension of the armistice, which ended on October 2.

The ministry said, in a statement, that “the demands of the Yemeni people, including the complete opening of Sanaa airport and Hodeida port and the payment of the salaries of all state employees from oil and gas revenues are just humanitarian demands.”

The statement indicated that the coalition countries used those demands as “bargaining chips”, with the blessing of the international community, which unfortunately suffers from an unprecedented moral decline in human history.

The ministry affirmed that Sanaa is keen to achieve peace and end the suffering of the Yemeni people, and that the coalition should bear the full responsibility.

The statement stressed that “the establishment of peace in Yemen is not far-fetched, and that the aggression countries must return to the path of righteousness, incline to peace, and realize that ending the aggression and siege on Yemen is in their interest and will reflect positively on the security and stability that concerns everyone, while the continuation of aggression and siege only serves the interests of the enemies of the nation.”

The ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing the need to meet Sanaa’s fair demands, calling on the international community, led by America, Britain and France, to stop their hostile attitudes, which have clearly come to be part of the reasons for impeding peace and prolonging war with the aim of reaping illegal gains at the expense of the countries and peoples of the region.
