Mahra sit-in committee: We are monitoring moves, and we will take appropriate position

MAHRA, Sept. 28 (YPA) – The anti-foreign occupation sit-in committee in Mahra province, eastern Yemen, on Wednesday confirmed that “it will not allow the province to be dragged into chaos.”

Head of the political department in the committee, Saeed Afari, said in the extraordinary meeting of the committee Wednesday in Al-Ghaydha city: “The committee is closely following all events, and studying with all the forces and components of Mahra to protect the province from any slip into chaos.”

Afari pointed out that the people of Mahra are able to keep the province away from foreign ambitions and conflicts, and it would remain safe and stable with its men and sheikhs, and its social and political components.

The UAE is seeking, through the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia, to control the two oil provinces of Hadramout and Mahra, after taking control of Shabwa province and a number of areas in Abyan province, in addition to the strategic islands of Socotra and Mayoun, and disrupting the ports on the southern Yemeni coasts to achieve its commercial and economic interests.
