Gunmen storm Shabwa governor’s office in Ataq

SHABWA, Aug. 18 (YPA) – An office of Shabwa governor, appointed by the UAE, was subjected on Thursday to an armed intrusion and the looting of its contents.

Local sources reported that a number of gunmen who were brought in by the UAE from Al-Dhalea and Yafa, came on a military vehicle and stormed the office of the governor, Awadh Al-Awlaqi, in the city of Ataq.

The sources affirmed that that they looted the contents of the office from official papers, considering that this came within the series of looting and attacks on citizens’ homes and shops during the past ten days.

This came after the confrontations that took place in the city of Ataq between Islah militants, and the militia of “Shabwa Defense” and al-Amaliqa forces on August 8, which left hundreds of dead and wounded, including civilians, and heavy losses in property and homes of citizens.
