TRIPOLI, Aug. 13 (YPA) – A magnitude 5.9 earthquake that lasted for several seconds, struck overnight near Libya’s second largest city, Benghazi.
Residents of the city said on social media they felt the tremor at 11: 31 pm o’clock local time of Friday night.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported on its website that an earthquake occurred in the Mediterranean Sea 189 kilometers northwest of the Libyan city of Benghazi.
The center noted that the tremor was 5.9 degrees on the Richter scale, and at a depth of 10 kilometers.
