UAE-backed military commander seriously injured in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 13 (YPA) – A senior commander in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional  Council (STC)’s militias was seriously injured in an attack by gunmen on Saturday ,in Shabwa province, southeastern  Yemen.

A local source said gunmen fired at the commander of the fifth Shabwa defense brigade, Brigadier General Moufraj al-Harithi, seriously wounding him and killing one of his guards in the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province.

The attack comes after forces loyal to the Islah Party in Shabwa vowed to take retaliations against the STC following its control of Ataq, abuse the party’s leaders and cadres, and storm their homes.
