178 flood victims in Sanaa receive emergency aid

SANAA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – About 178 cases affected by torrential rains in six districts in Sanaa province have received emergency aid provided by the branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the province.

The aid, which were delivered during the past three days to the groups affected by the floods in the districts of Arhab, Bani Hashish, Bani Matar, Hamdan, Sanhan, Bani Bahloul and Al-Hima Al-Dakhiliyah, included foodstuffs, hygiene and shelter tools, and tents in coordination with humanitarian partners.

The director of the council’s branch in the province, Abdulmoeen al-Sharif, explained that the aid targeted 63 cases in Sanhan and Bani Bahloul, 53 cases in Bani Hashish, 22 in Arhab district, 19 in Hamdan, 11 in Bani Matar, and ten cases in Al-Hima Al-Dakhiliyah.

He indicated that food bags and hygiene kits were provided to 105 cases, tents to 38 cases, and shelter materials to 35 cases in those districts.

Al-Sharif praised the role of the council’s branch partners in providing emergency aid to families affected by the floods, praising the role of the province leadership in providing cash aid to a number of cases most affected by the floods.

He called on organizations working in the humanitarian field to double emergency interventions to meet the actual need and reach the affected areas, urging businessmen to cooperate in providing relief to the stricken areas, as well as activating the community’s role in implementing initiatives to support humanitarian efforts.
