SHABWA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed Islah militia approached on Wednesday to control important areas and sites during battles taking place in the city of Ataq, the Shabwa provincial capital.
Southern media outlets reported, quoting sources familiar with the matter, that the militia had taken control of the authority’s hospital and a number of surrounding streets, and advanced to the province’s command building, which includes the office of the governor of the province, Awadh bin Al-Wazir Al-Awlaqi, backed by the UAE, after violent confrontations with al-Amaliqa forces.
The sources referred to the fiery control by Islah militants over parts of Al-Abr road after the withdrawal of the “Al-Amaliqa” to sites in Al-Shaqab area in the same province.
In a related context, the advisor to the Ministry of Information in Aden government backed by coalition, Mukhtar Al-Rahbi, said on Twitter the Islah militia in Shabwa was bombed by Emirati aircraft.
