Bomb attack targets UAE-backed “Shabwa defense” forces in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 01 (YPA) – Unidentified gunmen targeted on Monday a military vehicle belonging to the so-called “Shabwa defense forces” funded by the UAE in the oil-rich province of Shabwa, eastern Yemen.

Local sources in the province confirmed that the gunmen targeted the vehicle while it was passing by an explosive device in Al-Sawda area, west of Ataq city, the capital of the province.

During the past six months, the Shabwa defense and Islah party militia exchanged attacks with explosive devices in various districts of the province, after the UAE overthrew the governor loyal to Islah, Mohammed Saleh bin Adyo, in December of last year.
