Islah accuses Shabwa governor of being involved in Lakab’s assassination attempt

SHABWA, Jul. 20 (YPA) – Media affiliated with  Islah party on Tuesday accused the pro-UAE governor of Shabwa of being involved  in the assassination attempt on the commander of the special security forces in the province.

This followed the survival of Abed Rabbo Lakab, commander of the special forces affiliated with the Islah militia, from an assassination attempt following an armed ambush in the city of Ataq, which injured him and killed one of his companions.

“Awad bin al-Wazir’s exclusionary policies have caused an escalation of chaos in Shabwa province,” Belqees TV said in a report.

Awad al-Wazir is seeking to empower the UAE-backed  factions at the expense of  forces loyal to Islah, the report said, in a clear reference to his efforts to get rid of the most prominent leaders affiliated with Islah in the oil-rich province.

It is worth mentioning that the commander of the special security forces revolted  against he decisions of Awad Al-Wazir, rejecting the appointment of military leaders affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
