Sanaa condemns Al-Qaeda’s demolition of ancient mosque in Hodeida

SANAA, Jul. 09 (YPA) – The General Authority for Awqaf in Sanaa on Saturday condemned the demolition of parts of Al-Noor Mosque in Al-Khokha district of Hodeida province by elements affiliated with the terrorist organization “Al-Qaeda”.

In a statement issued today, the Awqaf Authority denounced the actions of al-Qaeda elements, led by the so-called member of the so-called “Presidential Council” formed by the Saudi regime, Abu Zara’a al-Maharami, to demolish parts of the Al-Noor Mosque in Al-Qataba area, north of Al-Khokha district, which dates back 700 years, a month and a half after a similar attack on the ancient mosque.

The statement considered this a crime to be added to the criminal record of the Saudi-led coalition and its hired forces, by destroying hundreds of archaeological and historical mosques and shrines, with the aim of obliterating the historical cultural heritage of Yemen.

The Awqaf Authority appealed to the international organizations concerned with preserving human heritage and the free people of the world to work to protect the monuments of Yemen and its historical cities, which are being obliterated and distorted by the coalition and its mercenaries.
