Sanaa reveals talks with Netherlands on replacement of “SAFER” floating reservoir

SANAA, Jul. 06 (YPA) – The Deputy Foreign Minister in the Sanaa government, Hussein Al-Ezzi, on Wednesday revealed a four-day visit by the Dutch ambassador, Peter Dirk Hof, to the capital, Sanaa.

In a tweet on his Twitter account, Al-Ezzi referred to talks with the Dutch ambassador regarding the replacement of the SAFER floating tank during the latter’s visit to Sanaa.

Al-Ezzi said that he discussed with the Dutch ambassador the executive plan to replace the floating tank “SAFER” with a new, similar and equivalent tank, and reviewed the efforts of the resident coordinator in mobilizing donors to implement the plan.

The Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his thanks to the friendly Kingdom of the Netherlands and the efforts of its ambassador, praising the efforts of the United Nations Resident Coordinator and all donors.

The Safer Reservoir Maintenance Implementation Committee in Sanaa announced yesterday, Tuesday, a new agreement with the United Nations regarding the reservoir, in a meeting with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator, David Gressly.

According to the committee, the United Nations will send the operational plan for the process of replacing the SAFER ship and transferring crude oil from it to the alternative ship, with a mention of the options and methods available to install the alternative ship.

The Sanaa committee considered this step a strong impetus to move forward to solve the SAFER problem.
