Blast targets senior commander in al-Amaliqa forces in Lahj

LAHJ, Jul. 01 (YPA) –  A senior commander in the UAE-funded al-Amaliqa forces has on late Thursday survived an assassination attempt in Lahj province, southern Yemen.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimonies of local sources,

According to the sources, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded and targeted a military pickup vehicle belonging to Mohammed Al-A’ass, the commander of Al-Amaliqa’s Eighth Brigade, near his home in the Fayoush area of Tuban District, the administrative capital of Lahj governorate.

The blast destroyed the military pickup vehicle and caused material damage to its surroundings .

The attack came two days after the convoy of Lahj security chief, Saleh al-Sayyed, survived an assassination attempt by a car bomb attack in Khor Maksar district east of Aden, killing eight people and  wounding ten others.
