UAE transfers soldiers, military equipment to Socotra

SOCOTRA, June. 30 (YPA) – An Emirati military cargo plane arrived on Thursday at the Socotra Archipelago airport, carrying military equipment.

According to the “ICAD platform, the cargo plane took off from Al Ain Airport in the UAE on June 26 towards the Socotra archipelago, carrying soldiers and military equipment.

This came after the Hebrew media outlets published news about the installation of Israeli military radars in Bahrain, UAE and the Socotra archipelago from the portal of coordination and cooperation with Abu Dhabi.

The “Hebrew 12” channel reported that Israel installed radars to track Iran’s activities in Arab countries, including the UAE, Bahrain, and Socotra Island, to oversee navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Other sources pointed out that the UAE appointed the captain Al-Anoud Ahmed Al-Saadi, to succeed its delegate in Socotra, Khalfan Al-Mazrouei, to manage the affairs of the island.

The UAE has imposed its control over the island of Socotra through its intelligence in the Red Crescent in 2016, strengthening its military presence in 2018, and overthrowing the city of Hadibo militarily by its militias on June 19, 2020.
