Iran sends two planes carrying first aid supplies to Afghanistan

TEHRAN, Jun. 23 (YPA) – Iran has sent two cargo planes carrying first aid supplies to Afghanistan following a deadly earthquake that hit the Afghan city of Khost earlier in the day, said the Iranian Embassy in Kabul on Wednesday.

The embassy extended its sympathy and condolences to Afghanistan over the tragic disaster, and regretted that the quake has caused heavy casualties in the country, according to its official Twitter account.

The embassy added it has taken other necessary measures to provide assistance to the neighboring country.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh also expressed condolences to Afghanistan, pledging the Islamic republic’s assistance and support for the disaster-stricken people in the country.
