UAE cargo ship sinks off Iran’s coasts

SANAA, March 17 (YPA) – A cargo ship of the United Arab Emirates with 30 on board has sunk on Thursday the Iranian coasts.

An Emirati vehicle transportng ship sank 30 miles from the province’s port of Asalouyeh, head of the Marine Safety and Environmental Protection Department at the Ports and Maritime Navigation Department of Bushehr Province reported.

The official stated that the causes of the sinking was likely related to climatic conditions, noting that the Iranian Meteorological Organization warned of the speed of winds and the movement of waves in the marine area where the ship sank.

For its part, the Dubai-based “Salem Al-Makrani” Shipping Company confirmed that one of its ships sank on Thursday off the coast of Iran, and that the Iranian authorities sent a boat to rescue its 30-member crew.

The company added that the ship sank due to bad weather.
