Russia announces its withdrawal from European Council

SANAA, March 10 (YPA) -Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that Moscow would not participate in turning the Council of Europe into a platform for Western narcissism on the part of NATO and the European Union.

In a statement, the Ministry stated: “The countries of the EU and NATO, by exploiting their absolute majority in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, have continued the line of destruction of the Council and the mutual humanitarian and legal space in Europe.”

The statement added that Russia did not intend to bear these sabotage acts carried out by the collective West in line with the imposition of” a rules-based order to replace international law, which has been trampled by the United States.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, announced that the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe had launched a procedure to suspend Russia’s membership in the Council, against the background of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.
