UN warns: “Nuclear conflict idea is unacceptable”

NEW YORK, Feb. 28 (YPA) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday expressed his hope that the ongoing negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Belarus would result in a ceasefire, warning of catastrophic repercussions if they continued the war.

“The crisis in Ukraine would lead to catastrophic repercussions,” Guterres said in a speech to the UN General Assembly.

He pointed out that “the idea of ​​a nuclear conflict cannot be accepted”, and that there is no justification for the use of nuclear weapons, stressing the need to stop the fighting and violence in Ukraine, and to fully implement international law.
