Trump-Putin Summit: “Productive” but no deal on Ukraine

WORLD, Aug. 16 (YPA) -The recent summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska has not secured any tangible agreement to end the war in Ukraine, despite both leaders describing the talks as “productive.”

Although President Trump claimed that “many points” were agreed upon, no binding commitments were made, and no ceasefire agreement was reached. Some issues remain unresolved, including one particularly significant point, though Trump expressed optimism.

“I believe we had a very productive meeting,” Trump said, adding, “There were many, many points that we agreed on … There’s no deal until there’s a deal.… We really made some great progress.”

In a joint press conference, Trump rated the summit a perfect “10 out of 10,” calling it “tremendously productive.”

Putin, for his part, emphasized that the trust between the two leaders was key to possibly ending the war in Ukraine soon. “We’ve established a good working relationship based on trust,” said Putin, “and I believe we’re on the right path.”

Putin said he agreed that the security of Ukraine should be ensured, and an agreement he reached with Trump would pave the way toward peace in Ukraine.
