Tribes set up checkpoints on main road leading to “Safer” in Marib

MARIB, Feb. 23 (YPA) – Tribal gunmen of Abida tribes set up several checkpoints on the main road leading to the oil facility of Safer in Marib province, eastern Yemen, local sources reported on Wednesday.

The sources pointed out that the creation of the points comes to secure the tribes from a new possible attack by Islah Party militants.

Violent confrontations erupted earlier this week between the tribes of Al Jalal, one of the branches of the Abida tribe, and Islah militants, against the background of tribal armed groups’ establishing sites and fortifications in areas of Al Jalal, which resulted in deaths and injuries from both sides.

On the other hand, the areas southwest of Marib city witnessed armed clashes between Al-Damashiqa tribe, a branch of the Abida tribes, and militants loyal the Saudi-led coalition, against the background of the killing of three tribesmen at the hands of the coalition forces off the Safer Company last week.
