Moscow affirms to respond forcefully to the new US sanctions

SANAA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – Russia announced on Wednesday it would respond forcefully to the new sanctions imposed by US, noting that this response would not be the same.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US sanctions package came “within the context of Washington’s continuous attempts to change Russia’s approach.”

The statement added that the United States, despite its previous efforts of this kind, did not hold any significant results.

It stressed that Russia confirmed its ability to reduce the damage caused by external sanctions, noting that pressures by sanctions “does not affect our determination to firmly defend our interests.”

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden announced that the United States would impose new sanctions on Russia targeting its “sovereign debt and its elite,” acknowledging that these measures would also hit the United States’ economy.
