TEHRAN, Feb. 09 (YPA) – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Wednesday the development of a surface-to-surface missile that – according to its declared range – could reach Israel.

The Revolutionary Guards’ “Sah News” website reported that the missile was called “Khaybar Shakan”, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, described it as a “long-range” strategic missile.

The website stated that the missile has a range of up to 1,450 kilometers, while it works on solid fuel and can maneuver to penetrate anti-missile systems.

The weight of the missile has been reduced to a third of what it weighed in the previous generation, and the preparation process for its launch takes much less time than previous models, and the speed of this process has been doubled six times.

This missile was designed and manufactured entirely based on local expertise in Iran, according to “Tasnim” agency.
