Washington offers Moscow exchange of information on missiles

SANAA, Feb. 02 (YPA) – The United States has informed Russia of its willingness to discuss giving the Kremlin a way to verify that there are no Tomahawk missiles at NATO bases in Romania and Poland, if Russia is willing to share similar information about missiles at certain Russian bases.

According to Bloomberg, the US proposal is aimed at addressing those concerns, as it looks forward to defuse the crisis over Russia’s military build-up on Ukraine’s borders.

An informed source told the agency that the United States had only offered to hold talks on several concerns with Russia.

The source said: “Everything we agree to do will be mutual. In other words, it will require action by Russia as well. It will only be implemented after full consultations with allies and partners.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced yesterday that Moscow was still considering Washington’s and NATO’s response to its security guarantee proposals, and it had become clear to Russia that the West was ignoring its concerns in this regard.
