Pro-UAE commander assassinated in Abyan

ABYAN, Jan. 03 (YPA) – Commander of the so-called “Special Emergency Battalion” loyal to the UAE was shot dead on Sunday by gunmen in Abyan province, southern Yemen.

Local sources said that the commander of the “emergency battalion” in Khanfar district, Hani Naji, was killed by tribal gunmen, after preparations to storm the last strongholds of Islah Party in the district.

A statement issued by the leadership of the “Security Belt” militia of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Abyan said that Naji was killed during “the confrontations with terrorist elements in Wais area, which they are taking as a den to carry out their terrorist operations.”
