Beijing: Ready to make every effort for reunification with Taiwan

SANAA, Dec. 30 (YPA) – China warned on Wednesday that it would take “tough measures” if Taiwan moves towards formal independence.

Tawian Affairs Office spokesman Ma Xiaoguang  said next year could see an increase in external interference and provocations by Taiwan, Reuters reported.

Beijing is ready to make all efforts to peacefully reunite with Taiwan, but if separatist forces in Taiwan seeking independence provoke, exert force or even break through any red line, we will have to take drastic measures,”, the Chinese official said in a press release.

In a statement issued late Wednesday, the Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council urged Beijing to “seriously consider its work toward Taiwan and make the right judgment on the situation.”
