US airbase evacuated due to damaged explosive device

FLORIDA, Dec. 16 (YPA) – US Homestead Air Force Base in Florida said the base had been evacuated from all personnel due to a “damaged” explosive device.

“Out of extreme caution, individuals were evacuated from the base due to an incident involving a damaged explosive device,” the base  said in a tweet, noting that “key emergency personnel coordinated with local law enforcement authorities to clear areas around the base.”

“The device has been repaired and no one was injured in the incident,” it said, adding that “we will provide additional information when it becomes available.”
