Over 2 million riyals of illegal, counterfeit currency seized in Taiz

TAIZ, Dec. 12 (YPA) – The counter-smuggling unit of the Police forces in Taiz province seized on Sunday an amount of 2,102,700 riyals of illegal and counterfeit currency printed by the Saudi-led coalition with the aim of harming the national economy.

The unit stated that it seized an amount of 1,937,700 riyals of illegal currency, and an amount of 165,000 counterfeit currency of one thousand riyals banknote.

It also seized an amount of 471,000 riyals of the national currency, in violation of the Central Bank’s circular preventing anyone from taking out more than 100,000 riyals of the national currency.

The seized amounts were referred to the competent authorities.
