HODEIDEIH, June 12 (YPA) – A commander of the engineering team in the joint military operations backed by Saudi-led coalition died of injuries he sustained from a mine blast in the Yemeni western coast, medical sources said on Tuesday.
Commander Waddah Ali Mohammed al-Hakimi died in a military hospital in the Egyptian capital Cairo, where he was airlifted last week along with dozens for treatment.
Military sources said the mines were planted by militiamen loyal to UAE-backed General Tareq Saleh, a nephew of slain former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, in Hamli front north of Khaled camp, in the western coast.
It was the latest accident in a series of betrayals between local commanders backed by rival regional states of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
