CHILE, Nov. 03 (YPA) – An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 struck Valparaiso, Chile, early on Wednesday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said.
The center explained that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 112 kilometres.
Chile has a long history of being hit by devastating earthquakes, including the 8.8-magnitude earthquake off the south-central coast that triggered a giant tsunami that devastated coastal towns in 2010, and a 7.2-magnitude quake in 2019.
