KHARTOUM, Oct. 31 (YPA) – The Sudanese authorities have given the British ambassador 21 days to leave the country, Arab media reported Sunday.
Saudi Eastern Television quoted unnamed sources as saying that Khartoum had given British Ambassador Giles Lever 21 days to leave the country.
The British ambassador to Sudan criticized the Sudanese army’s actions against the civilian government, calling them illegal.
On Saturday, he British Special Envoy for Sudan, Robert Fairweather, called on the Sudanese security forces to respect the right of citizens to peaceful demonstration and expression.
He stressed that “the security services and their leaders will bear responsibility for any violence against the demonstrators.”
Earlier, the United States of America called on the commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to allow the people to protest peacefully.
This week, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in Sudan imposed a state of emergency throughout the country and abolished the Sovereignty Council and the Council of Ministers, accusing the civilian component of the authority of “conspiracy and incitement against the army.”
