Facebook reveals reason behind worldwide outage

SANAA, Oct. 05 (YPA) – Facebook revealed at dawn Tuesday the reasons behind its Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms were down

In a statement carried by Reuters, the company said  a “faulty configuration change” on its routers was believed to be at the centre of the outage.

“It has no evidence that user data has been compromised as a result of this breakdown in communication services,” the company said.

“We regret the service disruption on our platforms and we have done our best to restore service and our systems are now back in operation.”

Earlier, the company’s technical engineers tweeted: “To the huge community of people and companies around the world who depend on us: we are sorry.”

They added: “We have worked hard to restore access to our apps and services, and we are happy to report her return to work online now. Thank you for carrying you with us.”

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg apologised to those affected by the outage.
