Armed clashes leave dead, wounded in Shabwa

SHABWA, Sept. 19 (YPA) – A number of gunmen were killed and wounded on Sunday in violent clashes between Islah Party militants loyal to Saudi-led coalition and Balharith tribes loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Shabwa province.

Local sources reported that the clashes took place after the gunmen of the Balharith tribes obstructed the advance of the Islah militants on Saturday towards the oil fields at the site of the Jannah Hunt Company in Usilan district.

According to the sources, Islah militants and Balharith tribes exchanged fire during the past hours of Sunday, resulting in deaths and injuries on both sides, without mentioning a statistic of losses.
