Iraq intends to buy French Rafale aircraft

SANAA, Sept. 04 (YPA) – The chairman of the Security and Defense Committee of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohammed Redha al-Haidar, revealed that his country is continuing to contract with France to buy Rafale fighter jets.

In statements to the Iraqi News Agency, “Al Haidar” affirmed that Baghdad would continue to make a deal with France to purchase detection radars, the air defense weapons and Rafale aircraft.

“During a visits made by Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi and Defense Minister Juma Inad to France, it has reached an understanding and agreement on the deal.”

Al-Haidar said al-Kadhimi’s visit would discuss with the French President the issue of money and weapons that were contracted in the eighties and nineties and have not been delivered to Iraq so far.
