WORLD, July 11 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump said Friday that the weapons the United States plans to send to Ukraine would be fully paid for by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
“We’re sending weapons to NATO, and NATO is paying for those weapons, a hundred percent,” the president told NBC News’ Kristen Welker in a phone interview Thursday.
“We’re going to be sending Patriots to NATO, and then NATO will distribute that,” he said, according to NBC News.
Two sources told Reuters that Trump is planning to send a new weapons package to Ukraine, which would include Patriot air defense missiles and medium-range offensive missiles.
The move would be carried out under executive authorities previously used by former US presidents.
This marks the first move of its kind since President Trump returned to office, signaling a renewed US interest in supporting Ukraine amid growing warnings from Russia.
