US destroys 73 planes before last soldier leaves Afghanistan

KABUL, Aug. 31 (YPA) – The US has on Monday wreaked havoc at Kabul airport, where U.S. forces at the airport destroyed dozens of planes and vehicles before leaving.

General Kenneth F. McKenzie, the Commander of the United States Central Command said in a Pentagon press release that the US military destroyed a C-RAM defense system at Kabul airport because of the difficulty of dismantling it.

He noted that they were used to intercept ISIS terrorist attacks.

According to The Hill, the US military damaged planes and armored vehicles before withdrawing from Kabul airport. “Most of the aircraft we left in Afghanistan were out of service,” he said.

Mackenzie added,  the army destroyed 70 anti-mine armoured vehicles and 27 Humvees at Kabul airport  in addition to 73 aircraft.

However, the commander of the Central Command said that the US military did not completely disrupt the airport. “We have maintained basic equipment for future operation, and we are ready to help.”
