SANAA, Aug. 31 (YPA) – Gen. Frank McKenzie, head of US Central Command has said that the Taliban was “significantly helpful” in enabling the airlift of Afghans, Americans and others.
He added, the Taliban will have difficulty securing Kabul in the coming days, not least because of the threat they face from the Islamic State group’s Afghanistan affiliate.
McKenzie confirmed that a few hundred US civilians have not been evacuated from Afghanistan.
The United States said today that it had completed the withdrawal of its troops from Afghanistan.
More than 122,000 people, including 5,400 Americans, have been evacuated from Afghanistan, the Pentagon said Monday.
