At least 40 killed in attack on Al-Anad base

LAHJ, Aug. 29 (YPA) – At least 40 people were killed and over 60 others wounded in a missile and drone attack on a Saudi-led coalition base in southern Yemen, media sources reported on Sunday .

According to the sources, three ballistic missiles and drones struck al-Anad Air Base in Lahj province, southern Yemen during a morning queue of Saudi-led coalition forces.

Informed sources confirmed that the recruits of the Third Brigade of the al-Amaliqa Brigades, which are loyal to the Hadi puppet government and are led by Abdul Rahman al-Lahji (known colloquially as Abu Aisha), were the ones targeted.

The attack took place while the mercenaries were receiving their salaries, and killed at least 40 recruits while injuring 60 others.

The attack on the military base in Lahj has triggered a war of mutual accusations between coalition factions of their involvement in the operation, amid reports of arrangements for a large-scale military battle between them.

While officially allied under the umbrella of the Saudi-led invasion, various factions have often fought one another over the past years. Specifically, conflicts arise regularly between UAE-backed separatists in southern Yemen and Saudi-backed forces.
