Deputy PM calls UN orgs to pressure coalition to lift siege, open Sanaa Airport

SANAA, Aug. 29 (YPA) – The Deputy Prime Minister for Services for Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqboli, met on Sunday with Deputy UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen, Diego Zorilla, and Director of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA),  Sajid Mohammed Sajid.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed many issues on human aspects and conditions in Yemen under the continuing siege by the US-aggressive coalition.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of the role of UN and humanitarian organizations in the mitigation of the suffering of the Yemeni people due to the blockade.

Dr. Maqboli noted that the service sectors in Yemen are exposed to suspension, especially the health sector, due to the lack of fuel as a result of closing ports, airports and the detention of fuel vessels.

He called on international organizations to pressure the US-American-Saudi Zionist aggressors to lifft the siege that has affected various aspects of life in Yemen, and open Sanaa airport to civil flights.

At the meeting, the two UN officials expressed their understanding of the humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the blockade, confirming that they will transfer this suffering to international organizations.
