SHABWA, Aug. 29 (YPA) – Mayfa’a district in Shabwa province is witnessing security tension in the vicinity of the Balhaf gas facility, where Emirati forces and a brigade of the Shabwani Elite are present.
Local sources said that units of Hadi’s military and security forces deployed – on Saturday evening – in the vicinity of the Balhaf gas facility, amid a high state of tension.
The sources indicated that the tension came after the failure of local mediation to persuade the Emirati forces located inside the Balhaf facility to withdraw from the area, following calls from the local authority affiliated with Hadi.
For their part, travelers on the Mukalla-Aden line confirmed that military crews were seen heading towards the facility site, in conjunction with an air flight believed to be belonging to the Emirati forces over the region.
In turn, “Wadah Bin Attia”, a member of the National Assembly of the UAE-backed Transitional Council, expected the situation to explode in Shabwa after the threats of the governor appointed by Hadi, “Mohammed Saleh bin Adyo.”
Bin Attia pointed out that what he described as “Brotherhood militias” established points and dug trenches between the air defense and the Balhaf oil facility, and directed cannons towards the elite and coalition forces camp in Balhaf.
Activists and analysts expected the situation in Shabwa to explode between Hadi’s forces and the transitional forces backed by the Emirati forces in Balhaf, which Abu Dhabi has taken as a military base with a green light from Hadi himself.
