SANAA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, discussed with the resident representative of the World Food Program (WFP), Laurent Bukera, the humanitarian activities in Yemen.
At the meeting, Sharaf received the nomination papers of the new resident representative of the program.
The Minister touched upon the repercussions of the Hadi government’s decision to raise the price of the customs fees and the impacts of printing counterfeit currency, which will double the costs of the import process and rising foodstuffs.
He affirmed the readiness of Hodeida port to receive ships loaded with commercial and food materials and containers, pointing to the facilities provided by the Salvation Government to all merchants and businessmen to import through the port.
Mr. Sharaf called on the WFP’s official to put pressure on the Saudi-led coalition to prevent the obstruction of ships from reaching the port, noting that the war of starvation and the prevention of oil derivatives and domestic gas impede reaching peace arrangements.
For his part, Bukera indicated that the program would work to facilitate and access of food and humanitarian supplies without delay or obstruction.
