Sources reveal Saudi efforts to seize southern provinces’ revenue

RIYADH, Aug. 24 (YPA) – Informed media sources said on Monday that Saudi Arabia has summoned the governors of the Yemeni southern provinces to Riyadh.

The sources indicated that the Saudi official on the file of “the occupied southern provinces (controlled by Saudi-led coalition), Ambassador Muhammad Al Jaber, summoned the governors of Aden, Hadramout, Shabwa and Mahra, against the background of the stalled talks of the so-called “Riyadh Agreement” in its third version between “Hadi’s government” and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

According to the sources, the governor of Aden affiliated with the STC arrived earlier in Riyadh, coming from Abu Dhabi, indicating that the rest of the governors will arrive successively during the coming hours.

The sources confirmed that the summons’ purpose is to discuss the process of depositing the revenues of ports and service institutions to an account under Saudi supervision, indicating that Saudi Arabia refused to provide any financial loans to a bank in support of the Yemeni riyal.

This comes after accusations against Saudi Arabia of being behind the conspiracy to destroy the Yemeni economy, aggravating the security situation and the comprehensive collapse of various basic services in the southern provinces.
