Taliban: No new government in Afghanistan until last US soldier leaves the country

KABUL, Aug. 24 (YPA) – The Taliban have said that they will not constitute a new government in Afghanistan until the last US soldier leaves the country,” AFP quoted Taliban sources as saying.

The Taliban warned on Monday there would be “consequences” if the United States and its allies extend their presence in Afghanistan beyond next week, as chaos continued to overwhelm Kabul airport with tens of thousands of people still desperate to flee.

A Taliban spokesman said the 31 August deadline for the withdrawal of international troops from Afghanistan is a “red line” and that no extension will be allowed.
